About The Home:

the big map
Every winter the owners of this home would put their lives in peril descending the driveway for the newspaper. The challenge with this house began with a dangerously steep driveway, a desire to have a more comfortable master bedroom/bathroom suite and to open up the main floor plan, all while still having a three bedroom home after the dust had settled. The idea for a solution was devised by the home owners. The builder listened to the list of wants and needs, developed the plan to transfer structural loads to achieve the clients goals, prepared a cost estimate, value-engineered the estimate to fit the budget, and began demolition.
The main floor has been redesigned for the Òempty nestÓ and to allow for more entertaining. The home has been remodeled from having three bedrooms on the main floor to having an entertainment area and one master bedroom suite that includes space for an office and TV area. The spacious master bathroom includes tile floors, two sinks with large mirrors, a beautiful tiled double shower and a jetted garden tub. A private balcony that overlooks the city and begs for quiet conversation and a cup of coffee was added.
The existing garage was converted into two bright bedrooms with a full bathroom. And that steep driveway? All the concrete and dirt was hauled away to create a flat driveway. Then they skillfully added a three car garage that is partially tucked under the addition with tons of new storage.
Outside the house has been updated while still nicely blending in with the neighborhood, first carefully bumping out some walls and then by staggering new roof lines to allow the new structures to be gently incorporated into the existing house. The 5-foot wide lighted stairs and custom-built, wrought-iron railing welcome all visitors to this home.
