As I enter into the 2 nd year of my term as your MBIA President I would like to thank all of you that answered the call to be involved in our association. Over the last year our membership has grown by 20 to a total of 280 members. This year our goal is to add another 26 members and with the guidance of our exciting Membership Chairman and her great committee we will reach and even exceed that goal.
The other area in which our Association grew was government affairs. This committee recruited many new members to its own ranks and proceeded to get us involved in our local issues. They led the charge to help get elected a new Mayor and new city council members that are going to help our industry and also help our community grow.
Another big step our association took was the purchase of our own office. We now have a Place to call Home for the MBIA and a great location to hold meetings at. This year we will do a small remodel to create a main entrance and to meet ADA accessibility codes.
Last year we revived our MBIA trade show with great success and in February of 2006 held our 2 nd annual show with an in crease of 50% attendance.
Also last year our charity auction was a great success. The proceeds were divided between three groups. As well we gave $2000.00 to Montana Energy Share.
All of our progress and growth last year was the result of our membership involvement. I believe that with continued involvment we will all prosper both as an Association and individually in our industry and business’s. With strong leadership we will become the voice of our industry. We will continue to recruit people to our leadership ladder that will take us up “another notch” and we will be even more proactive in community issues. I firmly believe that you will get out of an association what you put into it so every member should do their part and get involved.
Thank you and I look forward to working with all of you as we together build a better community and continue to strengthen our image of the Missoula Building Industry Association.
